Barbara A. Dancer, 80 of Washington, IL. formerly of Stantonville, TN. and Pekin, IL. passed away at 9:30am on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka.
Barbara was born on October 17, 1936 in Peoria, IL. to Henry and Edith (Carpenter) Adkins. After graduating from Washington Community High School, she married Earl D. Dancer on November 13, 1954. He passed away on October 10, 2002 in Stantonville, TN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Donald Adkins, and one grandson, Nicholas Palanza.
Surviving are her children Dennis (Anita) Dancer of Washington, IL, Debora (Stan) Seibert of Quincy, IL, and Sandra (Mitch) Elwell of Chillicothe, IL, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Barbara retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 1996 after 29 years of service. Barbara and Earl retired to Stantonville, TN. where she was an active member of her church. She enjoyed crocheting and shopping for antique glassware.
Barbara loved spending time with her family and friends and will be missed for her kind heart, big smile, and her bright blue eyes. She joins her husband and parents in God’s grace.
She was a member of the Stantonville Church of Christ and the Pekin Church of Christ.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 26th from 5pm to 7pm at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Graveside services and burial will be Wednesday, December 28th at 1pm in the Stantonville Cemetery in Stantonville, TN, with the assistance of Shackelford Funeral Home of Selmer, TN.
The family appreciates the kindness and care Barbara received the last three months from the nurses and workers at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Eureka Apostolic Christian Home, American Cancer Society, or The Alzheimer’s Association.
