Barbara J. Steadman

Barbara J. Steadman departed this life very peacefully at her home in Fairfax, Virginia, on Thursday, December 3, 2009. She was born in McNairy County, Tennessee, on February 13, 1945, daughter of the late Chester and Rosa Lee Rikard Steadman. Miss Steadman had lived in Fairfax for 35 years. She was a claims representative for the American Legion and was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served from 1972 until 1976, during the Vietnam War era. She was a very active member of Fairfax Baptist Church in Fairfax, Virginia. Her hobby was genealogy.Survivors are her special friend, Julia A. Stevens, of Fairfax; five first cousins, Lora Pearl Blakely, Mary Jane Harris, Nancy Rickard, Chester Rickard, and Larry Gene Rickard. Also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.Other than her parents, Miss Steadman was also preceded in death by a brother, Arnold Kendrick, and her step-father, Asa Plumley.
