Beatrice Belle Tackett

Beatrice Belle Kirk Tackett was born November 11, 1906 in southwest McNairy County near Mosses Creek. She was the oldest and only survivor of the eight children born to Napoleon and Madie Howell Kirk. Mrs. Tackett was a lifelong McNairy County resident, a charter member and the oldest living member of Fourth Street Church of Christ in Selmer. She was united in marriage to Walter Bowers Tackett who preceded her in death on February 14, 1985. Mrs. Tackett worked at the old Selmer High School as a cook and then for many years at Brown Shoe Company where she spent much of her time running the cafeteria. She loved cooking and being outside in her yard with her flowers and plants. Her large family was an important part of her life and she never failed to remember her children and grandchildren's birthdays.



Mrs. Tackett departed this life on October 1, 2010 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 103 Years, 10 Months, 20 Days.



She is survived by two sons, Walter B. Tackett, Jr. and wife Janet of Selmer, TN, Joseph Lyle Tackett and wife Shirley of Selmer, TN; ten grandchildren, Charles W. Lee, Jr. and wife Carol Ann, Robert K. Lee and wife Susan, Karen Tackett Phillips and husband Allen, Linda Tackett Crump and husband Joe, Sr., Mary Jane Tackett Smith and husband Myron, Dana Tackett Weatherford and husband Jon, Stacy Tackett King and husband Ritchie, Jennifer Tackett Haag and husband Steve, Joseph Tackett, Jr. and wife Amy, and Jamie Ann Tackett; thirteen great-grandchildren, Rebecca Lee Maddox, Robert Lee, Jr.,

Stefanie West Rowland, Janet Thigpen Bunch, Laura Beth Crump Tull, Joe Crump, Jr., Michael Crump, Lori Smith Henry, Carrie Smith Bell, Hannah Weatherford, Alex Weatherford, Jake Kiser, and Stephen Haag, Jr.; six great-great-grandchildren, Emma Crump, McKenzie Bell, Sarah Catherine Bunch, Ashley Rowland, Hunter Rowland, and Tyler Rowland. A host of other relatives and friends.



In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Tackett was preceded in death by a daughter, Beatrice Kirk (Tackett) Lee; a son, John Robert Tackett; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Tackett; six sisters, Elmer Kirk Robinson, Dorothy Kirk Kennedy Hester, Willa Kirk Meek, Inez Kirk Young, Mary Pal Kirk Demastus, Rachel Hope Kirk James; a brother, Gordon Kirk.
