Beckwith B. Walls

Beckwith B. (Buck) Walls Jr. of Collinwood, TN was born February 29, 1924 in Janesville, Wisconsin, the son of the late Beckwith B. and Edna Schumacher Walls. He was united in marriage to Joyce Ann Foreman on June 2, 1946 and she preceded him in death on April 16, 1998.



Mr. Walls was a retired truck driver for Hennessey Equipment in Dodgeville, WI. He was a Presbyterian, and was a member of American Legion Unit # 463 in Cobb, WI. Buck did not have one career. He was, as people say, a man of many hats. After serving in the United States Navy during WW II, he began working in Wisconsin, farming, in which he worked as a hired hand for several farms throughout Southern Wisconsin. He worked in several factories and was a police officer in a small town and was even chief of police. He worked for gas stations, and he and his wife ran several resturants. Buck drove a truck for an implement dealer until he crushed his leg. He lived in Arizona for a year or two. When he moved to Tennessee in 1982, Buck and Joyce ran two resturants, one at Natural Bridge and the other in Clifton, TN. When he retired from that he worked at the Waynesboro Schools and was a foster grandparent for many years.



Mr. Walls departed this life on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee at the age of 86 Years, 11 Months, 15 Days.



He is survived by four sons, David V. Walls of Collinwood, TN, Dale Walls and wife, Gina of Waynesboro, TN, Beckwith B. Walls, III and wife, Marjorie of Monticello, WI, Perry Walls of Clarksville, TN; two daughters, Becky Burkhalter of Huntington, TN, Paullette Brunner and husband, Cliff of Prairie du Chien, WI; 20 Grandchildren, 37 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren; brother-in-law, Joe Foreman of Avoca, WI; brothers, Richard Walls and wife, Marlene of Sauk City, WI, Jim Walls and wife, Dixie of Sauk City, WI, Albert Walls of Ripon, WI, Daniel Walls of Baraboo, WI; sister, Jacquline Howery of Lodi, WI;sister-in-law, Dorothy Harris of Montfort, WI, Delores Lins of Avoca, WI; several nieces and nephews.



In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Walls was preceded in death by brothers, Ron Walls, Bill Walls; a sister, Barbara Cooley.



Services will be Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 6:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Dewayne Staggs officiating. Following services, his body will be cremated and burial will follow in the Eden Cemetery at Cobb, Wisconsin at a later time. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 15, 2011 from 3 pm until service time at the funeral home.
