Ben Johnson

Ben Johnson was born on July 5, 1929, the son of the late Joe and Mima Jane Prater Johnson. On December 24, 1950, he was united in marriage to Anna Sue Butler, who preceded him in death on January 27, 2003. Ben departed this life on August 25, 2017, at the age of 88 years, 1 month, and 20 days.

Ben was a self-employed farmer and logger. He enjoyed raising watermelons.

Ben is survived by his daughters, Joyce Bain of Clifton, Tennessee and Carolyn Kelley and husband Scott of Clifton, Tennessee; son, Scotty Johnson and wife Diane of Euharlee, Georgia; sister, Kate Thompson of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; grandchildren, Stephen Johnson, Lisa Holstein, Timmy Pendergrass, Misty Johnson, Amy Smith, Joey Bain, Jeffrey Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Melissa Perkins, Mindy Brown, Megan Guthrie, and Wade Kelley; and 24 great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Ben was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Lee Johnson; sisters, Mary Verna Wright, Hazel Cagle, and Robbie Johnson; brother, Felix "Buck" Johnson; and a grandchild, Leigh Ann Johnson.
