Benny G. Chambers

Benny Chambers and his twin sister Betty were born on Wednesday, May 15, 1950, to the late Warren G. and Faydean Wagoner Chambers. Benny passed from this life at his home on June 15, 2023.

Benny graduated from Michie High School in May of 1968, and was soon drafted into the U.S. Army where he served two years of active duty at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Fort Jackson, South Carolina; and Mannheim, Germany, where he served as an engineer.  He was honorably discharged in 1971.

Benny was a long-distance trucker for many years with East-West Motor Freight in Selmer, Tennessee. After years on the road, he came home to serve as Dispatcher for 30 years at East-West, where many of his customers thought he was the best in the country at what he did.  His last position was dispatcher for five years for ETC Trucking in Stantonville, Tennessee.

His favorite pastimes were keeping the best and most beautiful lawn, watching westerns, chatting on the phone and ballgames, and as the ultimate host, he would say, ”my door is always open,” for anyone who wanted to visit.

Benny is survived by his wife of 26 years, Pamela Moffett Chambers, son Benji Chambers, and stepdaughter Andrea Churchwell.

His beloved grandchildren are Kelsey Chambers (Yasmin Adams) and their son Creed of Savannah, Tennessee; Hunter Chambers (Dakota) and their son Weston, of Adamsville, Tennessee; and Trevor Chambers (Lauren), of Savannah, Tennessee.

Other surviving relatives are his brother, Robert (Sue) of Selmer, Tennessee; twin sister, Betty Dennie (Davy) of Bethel Springs, Tennessee; sister, Janice Chambers Cunningham (Ralph), of Florence, Alabama; and many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends across the country.

He was predeceased by his parents, Warren G. and Faydean Wagoner Chambers; brother, Jerry Dan Chambers; maternal grandparents, Eulahs and Edna Denson Wagoner; paternal grandparents, James Carl and Mary Lou Evans Chambers; and in-laws, Jim and Juanita Moffett.

Benny will be remembered as a wonderful man with a kind spirit and a loving and giving heart. He will be missed forever by those who had the opportunity to share in his life.
