Bera Dodd

Bera Dodd was born on February 28, 1946 in Hardin County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Henry Ellis and Violet Beatrice Gean Stricklin.

She was united in marriage to Kerry Dodd, who preceded his wife in death.

Bera worked as an administrative assistant for Florence Lumber Company for most of her adult life. She enjoyed music and liked attending concerts, including Music In The Park. She recounted meeting Billy Bob Thornton as one of the thrills of her life. Bera was known for her green thumb and was an avid gardener. She enjoyed tending to her flower garden and took great pride in keeping her yard looking beautiful. She was also a proud thrifter and took great pleasure in going to yard sales and searching for a deal. Bera also enjoyed taking trips to Etheridge, Tennessee to visit the Amish community.

Bera Dodd departed this life on August 3, 2026 in Florence, Alabama, at the age of 80 years, 5 months, and 6 days.

She is survived by her sisters, Brenda, Wanda, Glenda Joan, and Robbie June; niece she thought of as a daughter, Morgan; several nieces and nephews; and a plethora of friends and neighbors.

In addition to her husband and parents, Bera was preceded in death by her daughter, Karla Joy Dodd; 4 brothers, Bobby, Danny, Mack, and Joey; and sister, Mary Lynn.
