Bernice Cannon, age 62, passed from this life at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital on Thursday, August 26, 2021.

Mrs. Cannon was born October 22, 1958, in Shelby County and lived all her life in Hardeman County. She was married to Lemuel Cannon on Saturday, October 19, 1974. She was a CNA at NHC Healthcare in Somerville and worked for Pine Meadows Health Care prior to her disability. She enjoyed being a homemaker, playing games on her IPAD, and going to yard sales on the weekends. She loved her sons and husband, they were “her world.” She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church near Hickory Valley.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Ricky Joe Cannon and Randy Dewayne Cannon, both of Whiteville; five sisters, Patricia Thompson (Elmer) of Somerville, Faye Lynn Cannon (Wayne) of Whiteville, Glenda Henry of Grand Valley Lakes, Kathy Jo Graves of Middleton, and Susan Cook (Tim) of Wayland, MO; five brothers, Joseph Dunaway, Jr. (April) of Harrisburg, IL, Jerry Wayne Dunaway of Jackson, Jimmy Graves of Bolivar, Odie Cook (Cathy) of Canton, MO, and Mike Cook (Hila) of Keokuk, IA; two granddaughters, Brooklyn and Brittany Cannon and a great-granddaughter, Alexis Sue Lewis all of Savannah. She was preceded in death by parents, Joseph Franklin Dunaway, Sr. and Frankie Evelyn Lambert Dunaway, Griffin Odie Cook and Mary Magdalene Lambert Cook; four brothers, Larry Joe Dunaway, Raymond Dunaway, Griffin Cook, Jr., and Glenn Cook and a sister, Linda Whittamore.
