Bernie James Collins

Bernie James Collins of Iron City, TN departed this life on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at his residence at the age of 66 Years, 8 Months, 19 Days. He was born May 7, 1943 in Waynesboro, Tennessee, the son of the late John Armstrong and Louiza Attkisson Collins.Mr. Collins was a carpenter, a member ot the American Legion and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.He is survived by, sons, David Collins and wife, Sandra of Savannah, TN, Richard L. Collins and wife, Jolene of Port Deposit, MD, Keith Collins of Raceland, LA, John Collins of Florence, AL; daughter, Michelle A. Staggs of Cypress Inn, TN; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brother, Sammy Collins of Cross Plains, TN; sisters, Linda Knoch of Harrah, OK and Beatrice Johnson of Florence, AL; nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at 1 PM at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Collinwood, Tennessee, with Josh Stults officiating. Military rites will follow with burial in the Railroad Cemetery at Iron City, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County directing. Visitation will be Saturday, January 30, 2010 from 6 pm to 9 pm and Sunday, January 31, 2010 from 11 am to 1 pm at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be sons and grandsons.
