Enville, TN : Bessie Whittiemore Pickett age 75 passed away March 10, 2013 at her home.
She was born in Cotton Lake Bottom in Covington, TN the daughter of the late Gus and Fannie Lou Bishop Whittiemore. She made her home near Enville for the past forty years. She was married to E.W. Pickett on November 11, 1979. He preceded her in death, August 15, 2011. Mrs. Pickett worked as a waitress in her younger years and later worked as a seamstress for Michaels Sportswear in Milledgeville retiring in 2000. She was Pentecostal in belief and enjoyed sewing, gardening and her dogs.
She is survived by four daughters, Rose Clayton of Covington, Betty Hawkins, Gayle Daines and Kay Sweat all of Enville; a son, Wayne McKenzie of Enville; twelve grandchildren and several great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby Hamilton of Stanton, TN and Perlene Hicks of Chicago, IL
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, E.W. Pickett a son, Kerry McKenzie and four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Johnson Chapel with Randy Mead officiating and burial will follow in Milledgeville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Johnson Chapel 5 PM until 9 PM on Monday.
