Martha Beth Hulen Vanhoose Bain was born on August 17, 1955, to J.E. and Elizabeth Hulen. A lifelong resident of the Burnt Church community in Hardin County, Tennessee, Beth graduated from Central High School in 1973.
On February 19,1973 she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Tommy "Bird" Vanhoose, who preceded her in death on March 9th, 2011. Tommy and Beth made their home in Old Town where they lovingly raised three children: Greg (Amanda) Vanhoose, Wendy (James) Sparks, and Wade Vanhoose Sr.
During her later years, Beth was fortunate enough to find love again when she met Ronald "Bull" Bain, who survives. Beth and Bull were united in marriage on December 20, 2022.
She began her career with the Hardin County Board of Education as an administrative assistant at Whites Elementary School in 1993 where she lovingly dedicated 17 years to the children and Burnt Church community. When Mrs. Beth's grandchildren became students, she lovingly became known as "Ms. Bebe" to all the students at Whites Elementary. Upon the school closing in 2010, Mrs. Beth was reassigned to Northside Elementary School where she continued to work as an aide in the speech department until her retirement in May of 2020.
Beth embraced her most cherished role as "Bebe" when her grandchildren became the center of her world. She could often be found, chauffeuring her grandchildren to and from their activities or cheering them on in the stands. She delighted in hand-sewing unique costumes for her grandchildren, ensuring they were the best-dressed for any occasion or immersing them in a creative art project for themselves or someone they love.
She found great joy in all things music, arts, and crafts, serving as a talented piano player at Turkey Creek Baptist Church beginning at the age of 12 and in her later years, she played piano for Campground Methodist Church. Her love for music led her to become a DJ at 101.7 the WORM in Savannah, Tennessee for a short time. Her passion for fashion, arts, and crafts made her the "Martha Stewart" of her community. Beth won multiple awards across the state in high school home economics with her skills as a seamstress and her fashion sense, and those who knew her will remember that Beth was always impeccably dressed, her appearance a reflection of the same artistry she brought to everything she did. Yet nothing fulfilled her more than creating one-of-a-kind pieces for herself, family, and friends.
Beth loved her family deeply, second only to her Lord Jesus, whom she faithfully served without question.
Martha Beth Hulen Vanhoose Bain departed this life on April 29, 2026, in Savannah, Tennessee at Hardin Medical Center Nursing and Rehab, at the age of 70 years, 8 months, and 12 days. During her last year of life, even as dementia stole her memories, it could not take her gift for music. Beth continued to play the piano with grace and feeling long after so much else had faded. She entertained patients and staff at Hardin Medical Center Nursing and Rehab daily playing beloved hymns that provided comfort and joy to all around her.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Bain; children, Greg (Amanda) Vanhoose, Wendy (James) Sparks, and Wade Vanhoose Sr. all of Savannah; her grandchildren, the joys of her life: Alexis Sparks, Sadi Sparks, Wade Vanhoose Jr., Zoey Sparks, and Albee Vanhoose; and her sisters-in-law, Patty Hulen Martin, Kathy Baugus, and Becky Bain.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, J.E. and Elizabeth Hulen; one brother, Jack Bruce Hulen; and in-laws Nettie Jane Logan, J.W. Vanhoose, Glenn Vanhoose, and Vera Ruth Vanhoose.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Kirk Thurman Foundation, the Darryl Worley Foundation, or Hee-Haw of Hardin County.
