Bettie Williams age 88 of Selmer, TN was born July 5, 1931 in McNairy County, TN, the daughter of the late Lonnie Thomas and Ruth Mitchell Cheshier. She departed this life on April 26, 2020 in Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 88 Years, 9 Months, 21 Days.
Mrs. Williams was united in marriage to Roy Everett Williams on November 13, 1948. Mr. Williams preceded her in death on October 22, 1991. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bethel Springs, Tennessee and started serving as lady auxiliary at McNairy Regional in 2000. Bettie loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially during the summer.
She is survived by two daughters, Angilena Mathis and partner Bill of Columbus, GA, Alecia Dawn Lawrence and husband John of Memphis, TN; five grandchildren: Christy Dawn McGaugh, Shane Lewis and wife Heidi, Kevin Lee Sawyer, Heather Ashley McGhee and husband Jason, Sarah Grace Lawrence; seven great grandchildren: Ryan McGaugh, Paula McGaugh, Blake McGhee, Jacob McGhee, Kayden McGhee, Rebekah Sawyer; three brothers: Danny Cheshier and wife Ann of Bolivar, TN, Jerry Neal Cheshier of Bolivar, TN, Jack Smith Cheshier and wife Molly of Selmer, TN; sister-in-law, Shirley Cheshier of Jackson, TN; and two great, great grandchilden Hadleigh and Melina and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by a daughter, Anethia Jean Lewis; sister, Martha Ann Cheshier; a brother, Billy Cheshier.
Private family graveside services will be held at Lake Hill Memorial Gardens in Bethel Springs, Tennessee, with James Towery officiating. A memorial service will be planned for this summer.
