Betty A. Rickman

Betty A. Rickman, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, was born on July 25, 1935, in Ramer, Tennessee, the daughter of the late William Ross Kirk and Mary Lillian Meeks Kirk. 

Betty lived a life marked by kindness, creativity, and devotion. She attended Cypress Tank Church of Christ, where her faith was an important part of her life. She enjoyed the simple pleasures that brought her comfort and joy—watching classic Westerns, especially Gunsmoke, working puzzles, tending to her flowers, and sewing with remarkable skill and passion. Her hands were rarely still, and the things she created were as warm and thoughtful as the woman herself.

Betty departed this life on December 8, 2025 in Ramer, Tennessee at the age of 90 Years, 4 Months, and 13 Days. She is survived by three daughters: Faye Johnson of Ramer, TN; Pam Tucker of Selmer, TN; and Angie Smith and husband Greg of Ramer, TN. She also leaves behind two sisters, Leilla Ervin of Selmer, TN, and Naomi Roberts of Bethel Springs, TN.

Betty’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Brian Hathcock of Selmer, TN; April Flanagan and husband Brian of Bethel Springs, TN; Blake Smith of Corinth, MS; and Clay Smith and Cassy Smith of Henderson, TN. She was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren—Jannie Hathcock and significant other Paul Conder, Niki Hathcock and fiancé David Eads, McKenzie Crum, Ronnie Flanagan, Chainy Flanagan, Drake Smith, Tyler Smith, Emma Smith, Jakob Tucker, Nataleigh Tucker, and Nathan Tucker—along with two great-great-grandchildren, Sage Whitten and Ivy Conder, and one precious great-great-grandchild on the way.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Rickman; a grandson, Joshua Tucker; three sisters, Ruth Kirk, Lucille King, and Marie Lambert; two brothers, Fred Kirk and Carl Kirk; and a son-in-law, Jerry Johnson.

Betty’s life was one of quiet strength, unwavering love, and gentle grace. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
