Betty Ann Jones Stocks was born On February 5, 1941 in McNairy County, TN, the daughter of the late Zelford Clyde and Arite Lee Nixon Jones. She was united in marriage to Charles Thomas Stocks who preceded her in death on January 30, 2008.
Betty and Charles enjoyed vacationing with family in Florida and spending time at Bruton Branch camping and boating. Betty was a wonderful cook and fond of being outdoors, tending to flowers and gardening.
Betty made a successful career as a hairstylist alongside her sister at Nell's Salon in Selmer, TN until her retirement. Throughout her life, she dedicated her time by caring for multiple generations of nieces and nephews, all who fondly remember her as a most loving Aunt. And, for many years before his passing in 2008, Betty dutifully tended to Charles' bedside. She was an affectionate caretaker.
Betty was a member of Mt. Sharon Presbyterian Church in the Gilchrist community. She volunteered countless hours with the Presbyterian Women's Organization baking and fundraising for community events.
Betty departed this life on December 6, 2025 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 84 years and 10 months. She is survived by her brother, Sammy Jones of Stantonville, TN; her sisters-in-law, Linda Stocks of Evansville, IN, Nona Jones of Adamsville, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews and many dear, lifelong friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by her siblings, Nell Chambers, Lavon Sullivan, Neta Garrison, Dorothy Pettigrew, Garland Jones, Jimmy Clyde Jones and Mike Jones.
In loving memory of Betty, we wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to those who have supported her and our family during this time. A special thank you goes out to Rickey Mitchell - your visits, friendship, and prayers have been a source of comfort and strength for Ms. Betty and for all of us.
We also want to acknowledge the wonderful staff at Adamsville Healthcare. Their exceptional care and kindness made Ms. Betty feel truly at home. Your compassion and dedication have left a lasting impact on our hearts.
Though she is no longer with us, her spirit and the love she shared will forever remain in our memories.
