Betty Jo Higgins Briley was born on December 18, 1933 in Waterloo, Alabama, the daughter of the late Audrey Zechariah and Maggie Goldie Ledgewood Higgins.
On November 5, 1949, she was united in marriage to Tommy Joe Briley, who preceded his wife in death on January 5, 2021.
Betty was a wonderful homemaker who kept an immaculate home. She was an amazing cook and loved to cook for others. She was especially known for her delicious coconut cakes. Mrs. Briley was a humble woman who loved to help others. She enjoyed listening to bluegrass music. Betty loved to keep her grandchildren when she was able and always had their favorite food ready when they got to her house. Betty was a member of Nixon First Pentecostal Church in Savannah, Tennessee. She always cooked Sunday lunch for visiting ministers and was known as a "preacher's friend".
Betty Jo Higgins Briley departed this life on February 7, 2026 in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 92 years, 1 month, and 20 days.
She is survived by her daughters, Audrey Gail Sanders and Vivian Keymon; sisters, Janice M. Higgins and Nerva Jean Higgins Kilbury; 6 grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Jerry David Briley; sons in law, Bob Sanders and Jerry Keymon; brother, Alvin E. Higgins; and sisters, Mary K. Higgins and Grace "Tootie" Higgins Clevenger.
