Betty Lou Brown departed this life on Monday, December 7, 2015, at the age of 78 years, 6 months, 14 days. She was born in Wayne County, Tennessee on May 23, 1937 the daughter of the late Walter Lee and Nettie Evelyn Watson Bratcher. On June 2, 1962, she was united in marriage to John D. Brown, who preceded her in death on August 30, 2013.
Betty Lou was raised in Rayburn Creek and after marriage they made their home in the Houston Community in Wayne County until moving to the Cravens Community of Hardin County and retired to the Cerro Gordo Community. She was a devoted homemaker to her husband and nine children. Betty Lou was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church and also attended New Harmony throughout the years when able.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn Jane Bratton of Savannah, Tennessee, Brenda Cummings and husband, Claude Jr. of Crump, Tennessee, John H. Brown of Savannah, Tennessee, David Dewayne Brown and wife, Joy of Adamsville, Tennessee, Charlotte Ann McClain and husband, Charles Jr. and Donald Glen Brown and wife, Amy both of Savannah, Tennessee, Ronald Lynn Brown and wife, Lorri Lee of Hornsby, Tennessee, Shelly Joyce Stricklin and Kelly Jean Dockery and husband, Kevin both of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, John H. Brown, Jr. and wife, Monica, Dave McClain and wife, Cassie, Wesley McClain, Jacob Dowty, Mallory Lowery, Sawyer Stricklin, Eli Stricklin, Dexter Dockery, Macy Lowery, Spencer Brown, Neely Brown, and Taylor Brown; a step grandchild, Crystal Coffman; brother, Jerry Bratcher and wife, Linda of Wayne County, Tennessee.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, John Alden, Jake, Bob, James Edward, and Earl Bratcher; and a son-in-law, Johnny Wayne Bratton.
