Betty Grace Dixon, a beloved member of the community, has passed away on January 25, 2024, in Bolivar, Tennessee. She was born on September 11, 1936, in Walnut, Mississippi. Betty was known for her kind heart and dedication to helping others.
Betty's career spanned over three decades as an LPN at Western Mental Health Institute. Prior to that, she worked at Troxel Manufacturing. Her commitment and compassion in the healthcare field touched the lives of many individuals who were fortunate enough to receive her care.
Education played an important role in Betty's life. She was a graduate of Walnut High School in Walnut, MS, where she also participated in basketball during her time there. She grew up in Walnut and moved to Tennessee in the 1950's. Her competitive spirit on the court reflected her determination and resilience.
Beyond her professional achievements and academic pursuits, Betty enjoyed traveling to Tunica, MS. Exploring new places and experiencing different cultures brought her great joy and enriched her life.
Betty will be dearly missed by her loved ones. She is survived by her four sons: Mike Dixon (Debbie) of Eads, Dale Dixon (Sheila) of Saulsbury, Timmy Dixon (Kim) of Middleton, and Kenneth Dixon (Tiffany) of Halls. Additionally, she is survived by her brother Billy Smith of Southaven, MS; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Betty was predeceased by her parents Ferman and Edna Davis Smith; brothers Buford, James & Ronnie Smith; and sisters Mildred Hopper & Janie Wilbanks, a grandchild and a great grandchild.
Betty Dixon will forever be remembered as a compassionate healthcare professional, a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her kind heart and selfless nature touched the lives of many people. She leaves behind a legacy of love and will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
