Betty Ann Dunaway Franks

Betty Ann Dunaway Franks was born on April 18, 1940 in Selmer, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Lessie T. and Amy Scott Dunaway.

On March 6, 1964, she was united in marriage to Ottie Ray Franks, who preceded his wife in death on December 5, 2016.

In her earlier years, Betty loved to garden and go to dances with Ottie. She loved watching sports, especially Vols Football, Atlanta Braves Baseball, and Titans Football. Her most treasured moments were preparing family meals, especially for the holidays. She made the best chicken and dressing, strawberry cake, and butterfinger cake. Mrs. Franks retired from the Hardin County School System where she worked in the cafeteria at Hardin County Middle School. She loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Betty Ann Dunaway Franks departed this life on Sunday, June 15, 2025 in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 85 years, 1 month, and 28 days.

She is survived by her sons, Steve Franks (Traci) of Savannah, Tennessee, Jeff Franks (Jenny) of Savannah, Tennessee, and Brian Franks (Nickie) of Adamsville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Colby Franks, Haley Franks, Amanda McLin, MaKayla Anderson (Wes), Dace Franks, Quaid Franks, Brooke Hatchell (Josh), Toni Dickey (Josh), Karly Maxwell (Clay), and Gracie Napier; great grandchildren, Bentley Hill, Landon Jett, Lily Hatchell, Ivey Hatchell, Levi Hatchell, Nora Dickey, Mia Dickey, Bryce Dickey, and Wyatt Maxwell; and a special niece, Lisa Wood (Stanley).

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, Troy Dunaway, Wilburn Dunaway, Billy Dunaway, Ralph Dunaway, and Charles Dunaway and sisters, Alice Mae Browder, Mary Sue King, Katie Basinger, and Jean Ruth Dunaway Huggins.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff of West Cancer Clinic of Corinth, Mississippi, Hardin Medical Center, Darryl Worley Cancer Center, and Legacy Hospice.
