Betty S. Huggins departed this life on September 16, 2015 in Jackson, TN at the age of 78 Years, 1 Month, 11 Days. She was born August 5, 1937 in McNairy County, TN the daughter of the late Willie and Sarah Eva Hendrix Hill.
She was united in marriage to Bobby Frank Huggins on May 17, 1959. Mr. Huggins preceded her in death on October 31, 2011. Betty was a member of Selmer First Baptist Church. She worked as a Pharmacy Clerk for 26 years at the former Smith and Hunter Drug Store and for 10 years at Fred's Pharmacy in Selmer prior to retiring.
Betty was a wonderful wife to Bobby, mom to Debbie, and grandmother to Alisha and Megan. They all were her pride and joy and it was expressed not only in word but in her participation in their lives. Whether it be playing board games (in which she always let them win), or simply running the girls around the house when they were growing up, she enjoyed playing and being with them. Debbie recalled one time being in the house with her dad and seeing the girls run by the window with Betty right behind them and Bobby commenting "She is going to fall and break a leg". According to Alisha and Megan, Betty thought Debbie was always right and could do no wrong. She enjoyed spending time working in the yard, reading her books, and doing crossword puzzles. She liked wearing her night gown and, according to Debbie and the girls, just might be seen out in the yard with it on.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Tennyson of Selmer, TN; two grandchildren, Alisha Clayton and husband Kyle of Finger, TN, and Megan Isbell of Selmer; a brother, Joe Hill and wife Frankie of Selmer, TN and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Huggins was preceded in death by a sister, Rheba Faye Hardie; a brother, Billy Hill.
