Betty June Melson

Betty June Jones Melson, of the Waynesboro, TN, passed away at the age of 86 on December 30, 2025, at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, TN. She was born on June 13, 1939, in Waynesboro, TN, she was the beloved daughter of late Cornelius Eugene “Rooster” and Opal Aileen Cole Jones.

Betty's journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering spirit. She found her soulmate in Jimmy R. Melson, whom she married on March 27, 1959. Together, they built a life filled with beautiful memories, laughter, and an abundance of love.

For many years, Betty made her mark as a payroll clerk at Angelica Manufacturing Company until her retirement, where her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression. Betty was a crafty person at heart—her love for sewing and baking reflected her nurturing spirit. She often found joy in reading and, most importantly, helping those around her.

Above all, Betty treasured the moments spent with her family. She was the anchor of her loved ones, offering support, encouragement, and joy. Her legacy of love and devotion will forever shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

As we remember Betty June Jones Melson, let us celebrate her life, the countless ways she enriched our lives, and the unwavering love she shared. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jimmy R. Melson; daughter, Teresa Melson Butler; grandson, Charles A. Butler and wife Pamela; brothers, Robert Jones and wife Linda, Jerry Jones and wife Andrea, Randall Jones and wife Melinda, and Brent Jones; sisters, Margaret Jones, and Debbie Jones Lineberry; and several nieces and nephews, all of Waynesboro, TN.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her step-mother, Marie West Jones; brothers, Roy Jones, James Frank Jones, Irvin Jones, Jackie Jones, and Charlie Jones; and sisters, Margie Jones Maples, Clara Jones Floyd, and Joyces Jones.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 3:00 pm at Shields Cemetery in Waynesboro, TN with Casey Jones officiating. Burial will follow with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Melson, Billy Melson, Rob Floyd, Greg Floyd, Brandon Floyd, and Jamie Butler.
