BETTY JEAN MELTON

Betty Jean Holder Melton, age 86, died Friday, May 26, 2017 at Morningside of Jackson. She leaves her son, Chuck and his wife Terry (from Frisco TX); three grandchildren Emma, Adam, and Charlie Melton; and many dear friends and family members.

She was born and raised in Chester County, TN, the daughter of the late Cecil and Odessa Murchison Holder. She graduated from Chester County High School. She married L. E. ‘Chuck’ Melton in 1948 and they made their home at Grenada, MS where Mr. Melton managed Memphis Hardwood Flooring. They moved to Chester County in 2002 after retiring. She was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, L. E. ‘Chuck’ Melton in 2009, a brother, Wendall Holder and is survived by brother, Joe Holder of Medon and sister, Sylvia Spradlin of Luray. She had a great passion for gardening and flowers. She was also a talented artist and painted still life.

Visitation will be 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 28 at Shackelford - Casey Chapel in Henderson, immediately followed by at graveside service at Friendship Cemetery at 2:30 Sunday with brother in law D. C. Melton officiating.
