Betty Irene Simmons was born on January 9, 1944 the daughter of the late William Alfred and Betty Jeanette Kelly Deshazier.
On April 13, 1963 she was united in marriage to James Elton Simmons, who survives.
Betty worked as food manager for 9 years for Pickwick Landing Golf Course. While living in Chicago, Illinois she worked for Crown Cork and Seal. Betty was a member of Sharon Baptist Church and a board member of Hardin County Skills. She loved traveling, cooking, flower gardening, and shopping, but what she loved most of all was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She departed this life on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 73 years, 9 months and 16 days.
In addition to her husband of 54 years, James Elton, Betty is survived by her four children, Marilyn Kay Alexander and her husband Keith of Savannah, Tennessee, Deborah Gannon and her husband Doug of Savannah, Tennessee, John Walton Simmons and his wife Jennica of Morris Chapel, Tennessee and Jeffrey Boyd Clay of Savannah, Tennessee,
two step daughters, Doris Ann Cimon and her husband Ken of Tupelo, Mississippi and Brenda Sue Barnett and her husband Calvin of Pontotoc, Mississippi,
13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren,
three sisters, Janie Hopper, Margie Deshazier and Judy Deshazier, all of Savannah, Tennessee,
three brothers, Jack Deshazier, Mick Deshazier and Alfred Deshazier, all of Savannah, Tennessee,
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Clay and two brothers, Eugene and Hubert Deshazier.
