Betty Cox Woodford, 93, of Savannah, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025. She was born in Selmer, Tennessee, on November 15, 1931, to Julius A. Cox and Martha Barnes Cox.
She was united in marriage to Howard Woodford on June 7, 1952, and lived her remaining years in Savannah, Tennessee. On September 27, 2014, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years. Together they raised four children, Debbie Smith (Robin), Dr. Doug Woodford (Donna), David Woodford, and Diane Allen (Stacy), who survive. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Matthew Smith (Katie), Leslie Thurman, Jennifer Harrison (Todd), Jon Morton (Melissa), Liz Woodford, Zach Woodford (Melissa), Bradley Woodford (Ariel), and Brandon Woodford (Misty). She leaves 18 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Granny, as she was known to 3 generations of grandchildren, leaves a legacy of faithful service to her church, First Baptist Church of Savannah. She served there for many years as a Sunday School teacher and mission leader in WMU. Missions always held a special place in her heart and she was a prayer warrior for missionaries around the world as well as people in her community of family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lavayer Mitchell and Martha Zellner and brothers, Lee Cox and Paul Cox.
