Bettye Beckham Crow was born on July 31, 1944, to H.B. and Zella Robinson Beckham. A lifelong resident of Savannah, Bettye graduated from Central High School in 1962 and later attended Draughon’s Business College in Memphis. It was during her time in Memphis that she met the love of her life, Charles Crow, whom she later married.
Bettye and Charles were united in marriage in February 19, 1966, and made their home in the Burnt Church community of Savannah, where they lovingly raised their three daughters. She began her career with the Hardin County Board of Education as administrative assistant to the superintendent before joining Angelica Uniform Group. There, she dedicated more than 30 years of service, retiring in 2002 as a corporate Human Resources manager.
In retirement, Bettye embraced her most cherished role, “Nana.” Her grandchildren became the center of her world, and she could often be found in the stands, faithfully cheering them on in all their many activities. She found great joy in keeping family traditions alive, especially through Sunday lunches, family game nights, and time spent together creating lasting memories. She took great pride in fellowship with her Class of 1962 classmates, often coordinating luncheons, reunions, and special announcements.
She loved her family deeply, second only to her Lord Jesus, whom she faithfully served without question. She always had a smile and encouraging word for everyone she met. Bettye was a devoted member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Savannah.
Bettye Beckham Crow departed this life on April 24, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 81 years, 8 months, and 24 days, surrounded by family.
She is survived by three daughters: Cindy Clayton and her husband, Ernie, of Savannah; Charla Townley and her husband, Tim, of Savannah; and Natalie Hunt of Savannah; seven wonderful grandchildren who were her pride and joy: Taylor Clayton, Chase Townley (Jessica), Trey Clayton (Baylee), Claire Townley, Cooper Townley, Harper Hunt, and Sadie Hunt; sisters-in-law Peggy Beckham of Savannah, and Yvonne Williams of Cedar Hill, Tennessee; Aunt Esther Godwin of Savannah, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, HB and Zella Beckham, her husband, Charles Crow, her brother, David Beckham, and niece, Sherry Beckham Thompson.
