Bettye Jo Powell

Henderson, TN:  Bettye Jo Flinn Powell, 91, passed away at her home in Henderson Sunday morning, November 5, 2023.

Bettye Jo was born April 14, 1932, in Memphis, TN, daughter of the late Steve and Lois Lee Flinn. She grew up in Memphis and was a graduate of Central High School.

She began working after high school at Union Planters Bank. She met and married L. D. Powell and they made their home in Germantown. Mr. Powell preceded her in death on April 23, 2005.

She was a member of the New Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Selmer, TN.

She loved family, golf and hummingbirds.

Betty Jo is survived by her children Jeffrey Powell (Karen of Henderson), Lee Powell (Jeanie) of Bartlett, and Ann Powell McQuaid of Thompson, GA; four grandchildren Bradley, Ashley and Rachell Powell and Lily Powell Tupman (Asher).

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband L.D., a son Mark Powell, and a grandson Spenser Flinn Powell.

There will a Graveside Funeral Service on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Powell officiating.
