BILL BENSON
Henderson, TN: Billy Wayne Benson age 84 passed away November 17, 2018 at the Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born June 21, 1934 in Lizzard Lick, TN the son of the late Robert Wylie and Annie Mae Phillips Benson. He was a truck driver as a young man, starting at the age of fifteen. He married Juanita Hendrix in 1951. They made their home in Henderson on Hill Street. They lived in several states and returned to Henderson in 1977 and made their home on Mitchell Road. He went to work at Freed Hardeman in the late 70’s and worked in maintenance for over twenty years. Mrs. Benson died in February of this year.
Mr. Benson was an outdoors man, loved hunting and fishing. He was a master electrician, master carpenter and wood worker. He was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ.
Mr. Benson is survived by a grandson, Robert Benson and his wife Mandi of Bartlett, TN and a great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Ralph Benson and Ronnie Benson and a sister, Virginia Benson.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, with Bro. Vance Hutton officiating. Burial will follow in Unity Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue 9:00 PM until 11:00 PM on Saturday.
