Henderson, TN: William Ellis “Bill” Brown, age 89, passed away Saturday evening, July 16, 2022 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born June 1, 1933 in Madison County, TN the son of the late Elbert Clarence and Eddie Irene Lovell Brown.
He graduated from Gibson County High School in 1951. He helped his parents farm and worked for Brown Shoe Company. In 1957 he began working for Delta Airlines in Chicago, Illinois. He was transferred to Memphis, TN, and retired form Delta in 1992 following thirty-five years.
He served as a deacon for the Whitehaven Church of Christ and the Goodman Oaks Church of Christ for many years while living in Memphis, TN.
He married Charlene Covington on January 31, 1960. William and Charlene moved to Henderson, TN, to enjoy retirement in the country in 1992. His hobbies included wood working, gardening and enjoying the peacefulness of the country.
William is survived by his wife, Charlene of sixty-two years, and son, Jeffery Lloyd Brown. He was preceded in death by his son, Andy and parents, Elbert and Eddie Brown; a sister, Angelin Henderson and a brother, Carl Brown.
He was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Bro. Ben Flatt officiating. Burial will follow in Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 12:00 Noon on Thursday until 2:00 PM service time.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Henderson Church of Christ.
