Bill (Papa) Pittard

BILL (PAPA) PITTARD

was born in Atlanta, Georgia on September 29, 1940 the son of the late Robert Lee and Parry Lee Alexander Pittard.

On June 6, 1958 Mr. Pittard was united in marriage to Juanita McKown, who preceded his wife in death on August 8, 2000.

Mr. Pittard retired after 20 years as Chief Petty Officer for the United States Navy. He also had worked for Atlanta Grinding for 20 years. Mr. Pittard was a member of the Scotts Hill, Tennessee American Legion, Savannah, Tennessee Moose Lodge and was of Baptist belief. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and making Navy model ships. Mr. Pittard was an expert marksman and was always safety captain at work. He was a avid Louis L'Amour reader. The one thing he loved the most was mentoring his grandchildren.

Mr. Pittard departed this life on May 20, 2017 at his residence in Bath Springs, Tennessee at the age of 76 years, 7 months and 21 days.

He is survived by his children, Robert Edward Pittard of Fayetteville, Georgia and Susan D. Ashtigo and her husband Mahmoud of Johns Creek, Georgia.

eight grandchildren, Christina Collins, Missy Phillips, Jenny Lynn Pittard, Ali Ashtigo, James David Pittard, Jr., William Robert Pittard, Mary Elise Pittard and Kaleb White

three great grandchildren, Andrew McGee, Dylan Munson and Cooper McCammon

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, James David Pittard, Sr. and one half sister, Jan Pittard.

Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Jonesboro, Georgia.
