Bill Wheeler

Billy Mack (Bill) Wheeler was born December 18, 1936 in Pickwick Dam, TN the son of the late F. B. (Papaw) and Verda Delaney Wheeler.

Bill was a 1954 graduate of Shiloh High School and attended Lambuth University in Jackson. Shortly after graduating he married his high school sweetheart, Marjorie Cody, on June 21, 1954. Bill was a successful entrepreneur, owning and operating W & W Home Builders, Wheeler Building Supply, and BS Mac with his oldest son Stanley. Never one for being idle, Bill worked part-time for Stockdales in Selmer after his retirement. He also formerly worked as a vice-president for Citizen's Bank in Counce. For the last 25 years, he enjoyed raising Black Angus cattle and was a Master Beef Producer. Wood working and building custom furniture for his children, grandchildren, and others was of particular interest to him. Bill was very community minded, having been an active member of the Lion's Club, McNairy County Democrats, McNairy County Cattleman's Association, Beagle Club, Guys Ruritan Club, and had served as a Hardin County Commissioner. He formerly attended Pickwick United Methodist Church and was currently a faithful member of the Selmer First United Methodist Church, where he participated in the Christian Voyagers Sunday School Class, served on various committees, and taught Sunday School classes for well over 30 years. Bill resided with his family in Counce for the majority of his life before moving to Guys.

Bill departed this life on February 22, 2018 at his home in Guys, Tennessee at the age of 81 Years, 2 Months, 4 Days. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marjorie (Cody) Wheeler of Guys, TN; two sons, Stanley Wheeler and wife Pam of Guys, TN and Randy Wheeler and wife Regina of Savannah, TN; a daughter, Debbie Ray and husband David of Collierville, TN; six grandchildren: Matthew Benjiman Wheeler, Mark Andrew Wheeler and wife Sera, Ashley (Wheeler) Johnson and husband Ryan, Cody Rhodes Wheeler and wife Ashley, Jacob Wheeler Ray and fiance' Avery, and Rachel Grace Ray; four great-grandchildren: Hagan Andrew Wheeler, Finley Ann Johnson, William Foster Johnson, and Griffin Grace Wheeler, as well as a baby girl due to arrive in April; a sister, Martha White of Counce, TN; two aunts, Maxine Tabor of Dyersburg, TN and Rae Cox of Tunica, MS; two sisters-in-law, Betty Wheeler of Phoenix, AZ and Aurellia Cody of Stantonville, TN; and many extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Wheeler.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Selmer First United Methodist Church.
