Billie Janice Teague was born on July 8, 1942, in McNairy County, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on October 11 2024, in Jackson, Tennessee, at the age of 82. She was the beloved daughter of the late Corbit (Bill) Gaffney and Mary Lee Walker Washburn.
On June 27, 1958, Billie was united in marriage with Troy Teague, who preceded her in death on May 13, 2015. Together, they created a home filled with love and warmth, where moments of joy and laughter flourished.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Teague was known for her outstanding homemaking skills and culinary artistry. She was renowned in her community for crafting exquisite birthday and wedding cakes, a testament to her exceptional baking and decorating talents. Her cooking extended beyond her own family, as she joyfully prepared and shared countless dishes at church events, family gatherings, and with neighbors in need. Her love for cooking was matched only by her enthusiasm for exploring her favorite department stores and boutiques.
A devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Selmer, Billie exemplified faith and dedication in her spiritual life. In addition to her work at home, she made a meaningful impact in the lives of many children during her time as an assistant teacher aide in the special needs classroom at Selmer Middle School.
Her creative spirit flourished further when she transitioned to floral design, working with Browder's in Corinth, Mississippi, and retiring from Selmer Flower Shop, where her arrangements brought beauty and joy to countless occasions.
Billie's legacy lives on through her loving family, which includes her son, Kevin Teague of Selmer, Tennessee; her daughter, Leanne Floyd and husband Darryl of Selmer, Tennessee; and her two cherished grandchildren, Kaleb Carsyn Teague and Alexander David (Alex) Melton. She is also survived by her sister, Ann Ellis of Selmer, Tennessee; her niece, Wanda Aristorenas and husband Juan of Adamsville, Tennessee; and a multitude of extended family and friends who will remember her fondly.
In addition to her parents and husband, Billie was preceded in death by her brother, Donnie Washburn, and her beloved dog, Sugar Boy, who brought her immense joy.
As we reflect on Billie's remarkable life, may we celebrate her spirit, her dedication to family and community, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness. She will be profoundly missed but always remembered with love.
