Billie Faye King, a woman of remarkable strength, work ethic, and heart, passed away on April 27, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on January 8, 1948, to Douglas and Myra Coley White, Billie grew up in an era of hard times that forged her into the resilient woman her family and friends admired. The daughter of a logger, she learned the value of a hard day's work at a very young age, a standard she carried throughout her life and expected of everyone around her. When she was 17 years old, she married the love of her life, Rickie C. King, who preceded her in death.
Billie was a fixture of the Selmer community, dedicating approximately 35 years to General Electric. While she was known for her tireless productivity, she is perhaps best remembered by her colleagues for her deep kindness; she never missed an opportunity to make someone feel special, frequently giving gifts to celebrate birthdays and holidays.
Outside of work, Billie was a lifelong sports enthusiast. In her youth, she was a passionate basketball player, a love for athletics that later translated into her time with the G.E. Bowling league. She was her grandson Dakota’s biggest supporter and unofficial trainer; her family fondly recalls her determination to see him reach the high school records he still holds today, and even one year of college baseball at Christian Brothers. Billie was most proud of Dakota’s academic work and graduation from college. Billie was equally dedicated to her children, Ritchie and Angela, working selflessly to provide the very best for them and ensuring they inherited her legendary work ethic.
Billie possessed an adventurous spirit and a love for travel that took her to places like Hawaii, Cozumel, Cancun, and Las Vegas, often unafraid to explore the world on her own. She had a deep love for music, especially rock n’ roll, and always felt a "kindred spirit" connection to Elvis Presley, with whom she shared a birthday. One of her most cherished memories was the time she met the King of Rock n' Roll in person and captured the moment with a photograph.
She is survived by her son, Ritchie King and wife Stacy of Selmer; her daughter, Angela Roden and husband Ronnie of Selmer; her grandson, Dakota Roden and companion Val Torres; and her great-grandchildren, Eli, Everly, and Roman Kiser. She also leaves behind her brother, Marty White and wife Nancy of Finger, TN; and her sisters, Carolyn Harris of Jackson, Mary Jo Gray of Bethel Springs, and Wanda Kilpatrick of Corinth, MS.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Eugene, Ernest, John William, James Harold, Ricky Lynn, Gary, and Mickey White; her sisters, Zetta Dickey, Geneva Howell, Virginia Walton, Marilyn Presley, Dorothy Weatherford, and Jewell Richards; and her special sister-in-law, Betty Ann Plunk. Her legacy of hard work, generosity, and bold spirit will live on in the many lives she touched.
