Billie Jo Smith

Billie Jo Smith, age 81, departed this life on October 8, 2012 at her home in Selmer. She was born on May 22, 1931 in McNairy County to the late Bill Smith and Mary Susan Russell Smith. She was united in marriage to R. L. Smith. Mr. Smith preceded her in death on April 25, 1990. They owned the R. L. Smith Scrap Metal Refinery for many years.Mrs. Smith was a member of Fourth Street Church of Christ. She was a member of the Selmer CB Club.She is survived by three sisters, Mildred S. Boyd of Tupelo, MS, Georgia S. Williams and Ruby P. Hickman, both of Selmer; a brother, James W. Smith, Sr. also of Selmer; two grandchildren, Dillon Rorie and Jill Keen; three great-grandchildren, McKenzi Smith, Luke Keen, Halle Kate Keen. A host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Other than her husband and parents, Mrs. Smith was also preceded in death by a son, Phillip G. Smith, a daughter, Mary Ellen Smith Rorie, four sisters, Nancy Seratt, Gladys Sewell, Cletus Cooper, Irene Frye.
