Mr. Billy Barnes, age 78 of Hornsby, departed this life Monday afternoon, April 16, 2012 at Pine Meadows Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Bolivar.
He was born in Hardeman County on November 5, 1933 to the late Tom Dallas Barnes and Sarah Erema Fawcett Barnes. He served his country in the United States Army for two years and in the United States Air Force for four years. Having lived all of his life in the Hardeman County area, he worked as a truck driver and was a member of Hornsby Baptist Church. He loved racing and was a big NASCAR fan. His family also states that he was a fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
Mr. Barnes leaves as his survivors three nieces, Gloria Jean Emerson of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Nancy Coghlan of Preston, Mississippi, and Jennifer Aylor of Hornsby; six nephews, Keith Barnes of De Kalb, Mississippi, Tommy Cox of Hornsby, Greg Barnes of Hornsby, Randy Barnes of De Kalb, Mississippi, Jeff Barnes of Hornsby and Gary Barnes of Hornsby; and a sister-in-law, Hugholene Barnes of Hornsby.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters, Madge and Lucille Barnes, and Margaret Cox; four brothers, Jack, Bobby, Joe and Kenneth Barnes; and a nephew, Dennis Barnes.
