Billy Clyde Hurst

Billy Clyde Hurst was born December 26, 1943 in Selmer, TN, the son of the late Willie Clyde and Geraldine Fryar Hurst.

He was united in marriage to Dava Jo Thomas on December 31, 1966. He was an Elder and member of the Court Avenue Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Selmer, Tennessee. Billy Clyde had worked in the Timber business his whole life and also owned and operated Hurst and Sons, Inc. for 40 years. In 2010 he was the top hardwood tie producer and won the Silver Saw award from the Railroad Tie Association.

Mr. Hurst was a very hard working, tender hearted man who loved his family and was a Great Granddaddy. He also owned and showed Speed Racking horses. When he wasn't working or spending time with family, Billy Clyde enjoyed taking trips to the mountains.

Mr. Hurst departed this life on October 5, 2020 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 76 Years, 9 Months, 9 Days.

He is survived by his wife, Dava Jo Hurst of Selmer, TN; two sons, Clint Hurst and wife Mindy of Selmer, TN, David Hurst of Selmer, TN; sisters, Rosemary Rowland and husband Bill of Eads, TN, Lynn Hockaday and late husband Emmett of Selmer, TN, Jan Ray and late husband Jerry of Eads, TN, Ann Ward and husband Jerry of Selmer, TN, Janie Smith and husband, Mike of Ramer, TN and Joanie Collins and husband Harry of Selmer; sisters-in-law, Garold Vickles of Littelton, CO and Madeline Hinshaw of Smyrna, TN; brother-in-law, Albert Thomas and wife Cathy of Diamond City, AR; grandchildren, Jessica Edwards and husband Zach, Rachel Hurst and companion Nick Monroe, C.C. Ingle and husband C.J.,Sara Jo Hurst, Ty Hurst and wife McKenzie, River Hurst, K.C. Hurst, Kaitlyn Hurst; great grandchildren, Andie and Devyn Edwards, Lakely, Charleigh, and Westlynn-Hope Ingle, Piper Hurst; and a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hurst was preceded in death by son, Stevie Hurst in 1992.
