Billy Dingus, born on August 1, 1942, in Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025. He is remembered for his vibrant spirit and a life filled with adventure, dedication, and a love for family.
Billy devoted many years to his career as an electrician and maintenance worker, retiring at the age of 62 after a long tenure with Franklin Electric and Active Products. His work ethic and independent nature were hallmarks of his character, allowing him to accomplish tasks with remarkable proficiency. Billy also served his country with honor in Vietnam in 1967, a testament to his commitment and bravery.
An avid traveler, Billy cherished the moments spent exploring new places, often accompanied by family on trips to revisit his beloved home state of Virginia. He had a particular fondness for dining out and was known for frequently asking, "Where are we eating good today?" Billy enjoyed admiring old cars during his travels, a hobby that further exemplified his appreciation for craftsmanship and history. A lover of country music, he found comfort and joy in the melodies that defined many moments of his life.
Billy leaves behind a legacy of love and fond memories shared with his family, including two grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews, as well as his brother Willie Dingus and sisters Barbara (Glen) Craiger of Hazelwood, AL, Ruby Coffee, and Juanita (Pete) Thacker. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Joann Dingus.
Billy's memory will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, including his departed family members: his loving wife of 63 years, Frances Dingus, his son, Michael Dingus; his father, Charlie Dingus; his mother, Arkie Bell Clark Dingus; and his sisters, Anna Ruth and Louise; and brother, Charles Dingus.
A graveside service to honor Billy will be held on October 4, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Memorial Gardens of Wayne County in Waynesboro, Tennessee. Family and friends are invited to gather to remember and celebrate a life well-lived.
