Henderson, TN: Billy Wayne Harris age 76 passed away March 2, 2014 at West Tennessee Transitional Care in Jackson.
He was born May 26, 1937 in Chester County, the Wilson School Community, the son of the late Wayne Calvin and Ethel Emerson Harris. He graduated Chester County High School in 1956. He served in the Tennessee National Guard from 1956 until 1963. He farmed all of his life in the Wilson School Community raising cattle and hogs for many years along with row cropping. He worked a few years as a surveyor for the Soil Conservation Office. Mr. Harris was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
Mr. Harris is survived by a son, Steve Harris and wife Crystal of Henderson and a daughter, Tammy Harris of Jackson; a grandchild, Austin Bingham; a brother, Benny Joe Harris and a sister, Dorcie Armour both of Henderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Harris.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors –Casey Chapel with Blake Harris and Joey Harris officiating and burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel beginning at 5:00 PM on Tuesday.
