Mr. Johnson died Wednesday evening at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was born Sunday, November 27, 1938 to the late George Martin and Jewell Frances Spurlin Johnson in Hornsby, TN. On June 24, 1961, he was united in marriage Anita Herriman, who survives. Mr. Johnson was owner/operator of "Hornsby Gulf" and ran Johnson's Worm Ranch for over thirty years. He also worked surveying cotton.
As a member of the Hornsby Baptist Church, he taught Sunday School and Training Union. He was a graduate of the class of 1957 at Bolivar Central High School; enjoyed fishing, squirrel and duck hunting, and all types of deer hunting including muzzle load and bow hunting. Mr. Johnson served eight and one-half years in the National Guard, both in Bolivar and Henderson, TN. He spent all of his life living in the Hornsby area.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his daughter, Diane Mehr; and a granddaughter, Madison Mehr. He is preceded in death by his parents, George Martin & Jewell Frances Spurlin Johnson.
