was born in Jacks Creek, Tennessee on February 7, 1936 the son of the late William Jordan and Daisy Melton Newsom.
On October 4, 1984 he was united in marriage to Carolyn Fisher, who survives.
Mr. Newsom was a retired truck driver and a member of the Savannah Church of God. He had done volunteer work for the RHEEMA Shelter in Savannah, Tennessee.
Mr. Newsom departed this life on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the age of 76 years, 1 month, 13 days.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Fisher Newsom of Savannah, Tennessee; 4 daughters, Nancy Newsom Cupples of Oakfield, Tennessee, Angela Newsom Mewborn of Jackson, Tennessee, Amy Newsom of Henderson, Tennessee and Amanda Patterson Franks of Savannah, Tennessee; 3 stepsons, Dwight Patterson of Lexington, Tennessee, Jimmy Patterson of Saltillo, Tennessee and Timmy Patterson of Sardis, Tennessee; 14 grandchildren, Amanda Ross, Brian Hurst, Jackie Frees, Tim Davis, Jr., Savannah Mewborn, Allison Mewborn, Gavon Franks, Wendy Suratt, Nathan Patterson, Shawn Patterson, Joey Patterson, Felicia Ellis, Jessica Patterson, and Casey Cupples; 18 great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Jo Willis of Henderson, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Alma Lou Newsom Kennedy; grandchild, Crystal Davis Matherly; great grandchild, Cheyenne Matherly; 3 brothers, J.R. Newsom, Carroll Newsom, and Clyde Newsom.
