Billy Joe Stewart, Sr. was born December 19, 1939 in Memphis, TN, the son of the late Duprez and Annie Opal Morris Stewart.
Billy Joe served in the U.S. Navy. He was a former pastor of Liberty Baptist Church in Somerville, TN and Good Hope Baptist Church of Adamsville, TN for 23 years. He was currently serving New Prospect Baptist Church in Hardin County, TN.
Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife Nell Thornton Stewart of Adamsville, TN; his children: Billy Joe Stewart Jr. (Alisa) of Cordova, TN, Tina Marie Stewart of Adamsville, TN, Daniel Andrew Stewart (Keri) of Saltillo, MS; ten grandchildren: Gabrielle Stewart, Zach Boggs, Leslie Mullis Rhodes and husband Scott, Ethan Stewart Mullis, Seth Mullis and wife Caitlin, Chloe Mullis, Olivia Mullis, Jayla Stewart, Dillon Stewart and Keelan Stewart; two great grandchildren, Brodyn Boggs and Lucas Rhodes.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Lee Stewart and Duprez Stewart Jr.
