Mr. Billy Gene Stinson, 78, passed away Friday evening, July 17 at Bolivar General Hospital.
Born December 26, 1930, in Fairview, TN to Robert Green and Lora Mai Lankford Stinson, he married Patsy Majors October 14, 2006. His first wife, Maggie Ervin Stinson, passed away in 2005 after fifty years of marriage. Mr. Stinson was stationed in Alaska while serving in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a professional engineer for the former Harland Bartholomew now Parsons Transportation Group in Memphis, where he was a Vice President. He lived most of his life in Memphis and in Hardeman County since 1994. He served as a board member for the Hardeman County Country Club, was a big UT Vols fan and loved to play golf.
Survivors include his wife Patsy Majors Stinson of Bolivar; a son, Wade Stinson of Springfield, MO; one sister Anna Mai Ashby of Murfreesboro, TN; one brother Glenn Stinson of Rockwall, TX; two step-children, Vicki Richardson and Joe Stewart; two grandchildren Jennifer Smith and Matt Milloway; four step-grandchildren, Erika Halks, Demi Taylor, T. J. Richardson, and Jordan Stewart; four great-great grandchildren, Hunter and Hardy Milloway, and Emma and Ava Smith; and two step-great grandchildren Tysen Smith, and Jake Kelly. He was preceded in death by his brother Carlton Stinson of Nashville.
