Billy Eugene Stutts age 82 of Michie, TN, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 19, 2016. He was born on Friday, February 23, 1934, to the late Eula Dee and Nellie Jane Goff Stutts.
A 1954 graduate of Michie High School, Bill was drafted into the United States Army in February, 1958. He was a member of the U.S. Airborne Division. He received an honorable discharge in November, 1962. On April 11, 1958, Bill was united in marriage to Eula Mae Cummings. They were married 38 years before her death on May 20, 1996.
Bill briefly worked for the railroad before making a career as a truck driver. He worked for ETMF until their closing. After working with many other truck lines, he retired from Yellow Freight after more than 30 years of truck driving. He received multiple awards for driving over 4 million miles with no accidents. Bill was a member of the VFW and the Shriners. He enjoyed working outside, listening to blue grass Gospel music, reading his Bible, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was always first to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Bill is survived by his children: Karen Stutts Barbee (David) of Michie, TN, Gregory Eugene Stutts of Counce, TN, and Alisha Stutts Bauman (Ted) of Humboldt, TN, seven grandchildren, Jeremy Glenn (Leigh) of Michie, TN, Autumn Smith of Savannah, TN, Jennifer Stutts of Florence, AL, Joshua Stutts of Counce, TN, Hannah Bauman of Gadsden, TN, Marley Dyess of Humboldt, TN, and Logan Dyess of Humboldt, TN; six great-grandchildren, Layne, Erin and Adleigh Glenn, Jaden and Jackson Smith, and Macie Stutts.
Bill is also survived by four sisters: Louise Jackson (Bill) of Iuka, MS, Eva George (Edward) of Adamsville, TN, Mildred Yates of Cape Girardeau, MO, Audine Rickman (Jr.) of Michie, TN; and one brother, Ray V. Stutts (Sinda) of Michie, TN. Bill also leaves 6 sisters-in-law, and 2 brothers-in-law in the Cummings family: Mary Beth Prather, Delores Bobo, Shirley Smith, Linda Austin, Martha Wooten (Vernon), Joyce Brock (James), Roy Cummings (Dian), and Benny Cummings all of Corinth, MS. He is also survived by a special friend, Betty Palmer and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Bill was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Wayne Stutts on May 12, 1987; three sisters, Laura Mae Hill, Wilma Ruth Lewis, and Ernestine Graves; and one brother, L.D. "Joe" Stutts.
