Graveside service for Billy Joe Treece, age 71, of Clifton, TN will be Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Prater's Chapel Cemetery near Clifton with Dr. Robert F. Burton and Bobby Pinckley officiating. Interment following with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.



Pallbearers are Volney Tucker Woodring, Jr., Volney Tucker Woodring, III, Lonnie Coffey, Mike Measel, Willie White, Billy Grinder, Kenneth Templeton, Billy Bell, and Charles Scherzinger.



Mr. Treece was born March 27, 1939 in Hohenwald, Tennessee, the son of the late John Thomas and Lena Belle Lineberry Treece. In addition to his parents, Mr. Treece was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Treece. He died Monday, September 20, 2010 at Centennial Hospital in Nashville. Mr. Treece grew up in the White Oak Community of Perry County and had made his home in Clifton for many years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines and the Army National Guard.



Mr. Treece, a well known citizen of Clifton, had served on the Wayne County School Board for over 30 years, State of Tennessee Risk Management, and contributor to the Dollar General Literacy Program. He had formerly worked for TVEC, Crounce Corporation as a towboat pilot, owned and operated Joe Treece Enterprises, and was a consulant for Group One Construction. Mr. Treece, a Christian, was a 32nd degree mason and shriner.



He is survived by his wife Patricia Ellen Prater Treece of Clifton, TN; children, Billie Jean Treece Woodring and husband Volney Tucker Woodring, Jr. and a grandson, Volney Tucker Woodring, III all of Nashville, TN a brother, Ronnie Holder of Linden, TN; and sister, Betty Jean Bell of Parsons, TN.
