Billy Wolfe, born on Saturday, August 7, 1926, went to be with the Lord on December 4, 2025 at 99 years of age. His parents, Walker Risden Wolfe and Minnie Belle Moore Wolfe, lived on the family farm purchased in 1917 in the Robertson Chapel "Bucktown" Community. Billy attended school at Berlin along with a brother, Douglas, who was born in 1927 and a sister, Effie Jean, who was born in 1929. They grew up in this farming community near family members.
He honorably served in World War II in the 1st Calvary Division of the US Army in the Philippines and later in the occupation of Japan. He returned home to Hardin County in 1946. A man with few words to say about his war experiences, he was a patriot receiving two Bronze Stars.
Dorothy Jean Gray and Billy were married in 1947 in Corinth, Mississippi. They were married for 76 years.
Surviving family members are children, Diane Dennis (Mike), Michael Wolfe (Belinda), and Ricky Lee Wolfe; grandsons, Vance Dennis (Ashley), Lane Dennis (Beth), and Zachary Wolfe (Tonya); and great grandchildren, Walker Dennis, William Dennis, Woodson Walls, Annalane Dennis, Emmitt Dennis, and Kinsley Wolfe.
He worked for Brown Shoe Company in Savannah for 36 years and retired in 1988. He also had a small farm at that time.
After retirement, his days were spent gardening, always sharing produce with neighbors. A much enjoyed chore was mowing and maintaining a perfect lawn. Riding horses and 4 wheelers on the Old Survey Trail was a weekly planned event. A fishing trip with cousin, LV Hurst, was a highlight of any weekday. He along with all the local guys spent many hours at the neighborhood hangout, Pete's Tractor Shop.
Billy became a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church in 1957.
In addition to his wife and parents, Billy was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Wolfe; sister, Effie Jean Williams; infant son, Billy Ray Wolfe; granddaughters, Gina Dennis Walls and Christie Story Patterson; and great grandson, Rhett Dennis.
The family would like to thank Arden Hospice for exceptional care of our dad. A special thank you to Mallory Cherry, Tina Robinson, Gracie Pruitt, and Destiny Highland.
