Birdie Sue Black

Birdie Sue Black was born May 24, 1938 in Finger, TN, the daughter of the late John Calvin and Honor Mae Melton Hill.

She was united in marriage to Robert Monroe Black on September 17, 1954. They were blessed with one daughter whom they named Cora Mae, after each of their mothers. Mr. Black preceded her in death on June 18, 2007.

During her life, Birdie was a devoted wife and mother. She loved flowers, gardening, and cooking for her family. She worked from the age of 14 until she retired to stay home and care for her husband.

Mrs. Black departed this life on April 3, 2025 in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 86 Years, 10 Months, 10 Days.

She is survived by her daughter, Cora Mae Daniel and husband Jackie of Adamsville; one sister, Callie Lipford of Adamsville; two grandchildren, Ryan Heath Daniel and wife Jessica of Nashville and Robyn Honor Pettigrew and husband Kip of Adamsville; four loving great grandsons: Will Daniel, Max Pettigrew, James Daniel, and Myles Pettigrew; and several special nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Robert; three sisters: Maggie Floyd, Allie Wagoner, and Mildred Pyron; and two brothers, Earl and Carl Hill.
