Birdie Leo Wilson

Mrs. Birdie Wilson of Jackson departed this life at the age of 92 years at her home.



A native of Hardeman County, she was born September 15, 1920 to the late James Henry and Ada Idell Scarborough Hill. On October 3, 1938, she was united in marriage to John Wesley Wilson, Sr., who preceded her in death July 14, 1982. She worked as a homemaker and loved raising her children and grandchildren. Since her husband's death, she lived in Jackson. She was Baptist in belief.



Survivors include seven daughters, Nell Cassatta of Holly Springs, Mississippi, Faye Crossman and husband Bob of Pembroke Pines, Florida, Lynda Castigliego and husband Chuck of Everett, Massachusetts, Velma Lee Byrn of Okeechobee, Florida, Barbara Pomeroy and husband Steve of Jackson, Gladys Nickie Heavner and husband Hootie of Jackson, and Shirley Pittman and husband Robert of Ripley; 33 grandchildren, Mark Francis, Suzie Francis, Traci Maness, Carla Rodgers McMahan, Jimmy Rodgers, Michael Rodgers, Angela Cassatta Scott, Francis Cassatta Blessick, Joe Cassatta, Dianne Lake, David Lake, Kelly Roushar, Shani Roushar, Gina Ciampi, Tony Ciampi, Summer Castigliego, Sara Castigliego, Regina Byrn, Ty Byrn, Duane Briley, Sherri Briley, April Briley Byrd, Alison Briley Norton, Rick Gower, Greg Gower, Jason Heavner, John Wilson III, James Neal Wilson, Eric Wilson, David Wilson, Jennifer Hughes, Adam Bishop and Robert Vestal; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.



In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three daughters, Grace Francis, Betty Lee and Mary Montgomery; one son, John Wilson, Jr.; five grandchildren, Donna Carol Perry, Michael Vincent Ciampi, Danny Briley, Jr., Wesley New, and Billy Joe Bishop; four sisters and four brothers.
