BIRDISE STEWART

Beech Bluff, TN: Birdise Geneva Gowan Stewart age 86 passed away August 11, 2015 at her home.

She was born September 5, 1928 in Malesus and also reared there, the daughter of the late Earl Vance and Julia Ann Garrett Gowan. She went to school at Malesus and married Raymond Earl Stewart July 12, 1947. They were married fifty-seven years making their home near Beech Bluff until his death in 2004. Mrs. Stewart had worked at Bemis Cotton Mill for twenty-seven years. She was a member of the Bemis Church of Christ.

She is survived by a granddaughter, she raised from age seven months, Daphne Stewart of Beech Bluff and two grandsons, Raymond Bruce Stewart, Jr. and Brian Keith Stewart; five great grandchildren; a brother, Rufus Gowan of Baton Rouge, LA; a sister, Elanor Gowan of Lexington and she also leaves, Stacey Stewart, Crystal Perry, Destinie Lowe and Misty Johnson who were her faithful caregivers.

She was preceded in death by, her parents, her husband, a son, Raymond Bruce Stewart, Sr. in 2004 and a daughter, Charlotte Annette Stewart in 2010 and four sisters, Norma, Quindiline, Ellen and Lydia.

Funeral services will be 12 Noon Friday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Nathan Bell officiating and burial will follow in New Union Cemetery at Medon, TN.

The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 6 PM until 8 PM on Thursday.
