Henderson, TN: Robert Clark ‘Bobby’ Barnes, age 54 died Sunday morning May 8, 2016 at his home in Henderson.
Mr. Barnes was born at Savannah and grew up in Henderson, the son of the late Robert Earl and Juanita Louise Guinn Barnes. He attended Chester County Schools and in 1983 went to work for the Henderson City Police Department, served as a Sergeant and had fifteen years of service with the Police Department. He entered the ministry in 1997 and served as Pastor at Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian, Faith Baptist, and Harmony Baptist, which is now Clarks Creek Baptist Church.
He served five terms, totaling twenty years, as a Henderson City Alderman and was the official Chester County Historian proclaimed by the Chester County Mayor. He founded the Historical Room at the Chester County Library and also founded the Prudy Historical Society. He was an avid relic hunter and loved to collect historical artifacts.
He is survived by his wife Allison Miller Barnes, two sons; Mark Barnes and wife Kim, Branson Barnes and wife Lorilyn and a daughter Beth Barnes Whitman and husband Wesley all of Henderson. He has eight grandchildren; Emma Grace Barnes, Jace Barnes, Reagan Whitman, Ryan Mallie Whitman, Tayte Whitman, Knox Whitman, Trent Barnes, and Landrie Barnes.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Bro. Ronnie Geary officiating. Burial will follow at Purdy Wisdom Cemetery near Bethel Springs, Tennessee.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford – Casey Chapel beginning at 4:00 PM Monday.
