Mr. Peace died Saturday evening, April 13, 2013, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
A native of Bell County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Shelby Gibson Peace and Rose Pearl Conkem Peace. Mr. Peace moved to Michigan his senior year of high school to live with his sister. He graduated from Wayne (MI) High School and attended Bradley University on a basketball scholarship. For many years, he lived in Memphis before moving to Grand Valley Lakes in Hardeman County in 1991. While in Memphis, he worked for Fulcher-Evans Food Brokerage Company as an account executive and General Manager. On May 12, 1964, he married Myra Faye Lloyd, who survives. Mr. Peace was a member of the West Memorial Baptist Church near Saulsbury, where for 3 years he played a big part in the demolition of the old church and helping build a new church building, finishing it in December, 2001. He was a former member of Berclair Baptist Church in Memphis. He had been a member of Gideons International since 1979.
In addition to his wife of 49 years, he leaves two daughters, Cheryl Ann Fellows of Endicott, NY and Marjorie Lynn Peace of Boise, ID; two sons, Robert Charles Peace and his wife, Debbie, of Mountain Home, ID and Gary Michael Peace and his wife, Leanne, of Collierville; one step-daughter, Judy K. Brantley and her husband, Bill, of Lakeland, TN; two step-sons, Ronnie Parkinson and his wife, Sherrie, and David Lloyd Parkinson and his wife, Linda, all of Bartlett; 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Services will be officiated by Brother Dennis Callahan. Those serving as active pallbearers are grandsons, Gary, Gibson, Alan and Michael Peace, Dustin Wilson, Billy Calderwood, David Fellows, Jarett Chambers, Mike Thorne, Patrick Parkinson and Wayne Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Callahan, Skippy Galloway and Gerald Baker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
