Bobby Lewis Thompson was born on August 9, 1938, in Humboldt, Tennessee, the son of the late Eugene and Pauline Nanney Thompson.
He was united in marriage to Vicki Blankenship on July 1, 2000, beginning a marriage filled with love, companionship, and cherished memories.
Bobby was a kind and gentle man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. He dedicated 33 years of his career as the Office Manager for Brown Shoe Company, where he was known for his dedication, dependability, and strong work ethic. Above all, Bobby treasured his family. His greatest happiness came from spending time with those he loved, making memories, and enjoying each moment together.
He loved the freedom of the open road and looked forward to road trips with family and friends. Whether spending time outdoors, relaxing on the water, or admiring boats and classic cars, Bobby found contentment in life's everyday adventures. His faithful little dog, Snuggles, was a constant companion who brought him much comfort and happiness.
During his younger years, Bobby developed a love for jazz music and enjoyed playing the trumpet, particularly during his time serving in the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country with honor and carried the values of duty, integrity, and service throughout his life.
Mr. Thompson departed this life on July 21, 2026, in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 87 years, 11 months, and 12 days.
He leaves behind a family who loved him dearly and will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his beloved wife of twenty-six years, Vicki (Blankenship) Thompson of Selmer, Tennessee; three sons, Randall Thompson and wife, Holly, of Buford, Georgia, Bryan Thompson and wife, Shannon, of Ennis, Texas, and Christopher Thompson and wife, Gabby, of Auburn, Georgia; one stepson, Christopher Escue and partner, Bryan, of Dickson, Tennessee; one stepdaughter, Kristie Henley and husband, Eli, of Dillingham, Alaska; five grandchildren, Abby Thompson and Becca Thompson, both of Buford, Georgia, and Isaac Thompson, Justice Thompson, and Rocky Thompson, all of Auburn, Georgia; three step-grandchildren, Jenny Wood, Gabby Henley, and Aaron Henley, all of Jackson, Tennessee; two nephews, Steve Thompson and Ricky Thompson; along with many extended family members and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Thompson and Milton Thompson, and two sisters, Mary Maxine Thompson and Doris Jean Thompson.
Bobby will be remembered for his gentle spirit, quiet strength, unwavering love for his family, and appreciation for life's simple blessings. Though he will be deeply missed, those who knew and loved him will carry his memory in their hearts forever.
