Bonnie Sue Vickers, beloved wife, and mother, passed away on September 1, 2024. She was born on October 2, 1946, in Memphis TN and was the daughter of Leonard K. (Jack) and Florence Sherwood. Bonnie graduated from Collierville High School in 1964 and moved to Bolivar , TN where she met her future husband while riding in a Willys Jeep with her father in the Hatchie River bottom. She married Bob Vickers on December 29th, 1967, at the First United Methodist Church in Bolivar. In the early years they lived in Wichita Falls, TX and Biloxi, MS while Bob served in the Airforce. They then move to Knoxville, TN then Atlanta, GA before ultimately landing back home in Bolivar in 1977.
Once her children were school age, Bonnie worked at Boliver Elementary School as a teacher’s aide and later as a school secretary until her retirement in May 2013. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends, especially on the holidays. She loved nature and regularly visited the Great Smoky National Park to watch the wildlife. Traveling and antiquing with Bob were among her favorite hobbies. She felt her greatest accomplishments were her 4 children and 5 grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents and her oldest child Kelly Lynn Vickers, Bonnie is survived by her husband of 57 years, her 2 sons, Jason Vickers (Tammy) of Lynnville TN, Ethan Vickers (Taylor) of Bolivar TN, her daughter, Katie Gladish (Gordon) of Pocahontas TN, her sister, Peggy Carpenter of Freeport FL, brother, M. Leonard (Butch) Sherwood of Collierville TN, and five grandchildren, Landon Vickers, Rylan Vickers, Cole Vickers, Gray Gladish, Addison Vickers, and nephew, Josh Lax of Santa Rosa Beach, FL.
